Jumpy Enough to Chew a Chair? Try DogCatRadio - New York Times

This is not a joke. A man with six dogs and two cats said he began this radio station for pets because his cat, Snickers, told him to do so. The station, DogCatRadio.com, plays music that mentions animals, for example, Elvis’ “Hound Dog”. The DJs take requests and talk to their furry listeners too.

Vets say leaving the radio on can be good for animals who experience anxiety when left along at home. It may also be good for pet owners at home as the broadcast is beginning to include interviews with owners and people involved with charity events like “Walk for Paws”.

Weird But True

The New York Post printed a few weird but true animal stories on October 29, 2005. One talks about a cat named Emily from Appleton, WI who was known to stray from her home. One time she had been missing for a month when her vet got a call from France. Factory workers found Emily in a ship container and made the call because of her ID tag. Now her owner will fly her home from France.

Another cat, Fritz, from Luebeck, Germany took off with his owner’s toe! The owner dropped a knife while slicing bread, which resulted in the detached digit. While the man was hopping around, Fritz took the toe to the garden and promptly buried it there. It was never found.
